Sign the Petition for Fair & Equitable Housing

Compared to other Orange County cities, Santa Ana's current housing laws result in lower property values and more crime. We need the opportunity to vote and real housing solutions.

SIGN THE PETITION

Better Solutions Start With Elections

SAFE Housing is a coalition of Santa Ana residents and business leaders who are asking voters to repeal bad laws in an effort to advance fair & equitable housing. By signing the petition, you will help to:

Improve Community Outreach

The City doesn't do enough community outreach as it relates to housing. In fact, a recent investigation found that city leaders failed to spend millions of dollars to help residents with rental assistance. Less than 3% of households received help. By signing the petition, Santa Ana voters will be allowed a public vote on the right housing solutions.

Affirm Prior Voter Decisions

A majority of Santa Ana voters have rejected the flawed housing proposals four times in the last two years. For example, Prop 10 was defeated by 59% of city voters. Signing the petition will give Santa Ana residents an opportunity to seek fair & equitable housing solutions.

Close Criminal Loopholes & Protect Victims

Crime victims groups and law enforcement associations believe that current city law has a dangerous loophole that "deprives crime victims of the ability to feel safe and secure in their homes." A successful petition will give Santa Ana voters the ability remove these flawed and dangerous laws at the next election.

Support Public Services & Affordable Housing

The State's Legislative Analyst's Office concluded laws similar to Santa Ana's could result in “a potential reduction in state and local revenues in the high tens of millions of dollars per year over time.” City leaders have made a mistake that will cost millions, taking funding from police patrols, fire safety, and youth programs. A better solution is to repeal flawed laws and work towards more public funding for needed services.

Santa Ana Voters' Right to a Vote

Neighborhood and business leaders strongly believe that Santa Ana voters should have a voice in the city. Sign our petition and voters will have a chance to decide what's right for the community.

Crime Survivors Resource Center

By making it more difficult to evict tenants who engage in criminal activity, the proposed ordinance prioritizes the interests of those engaging in and encouraging criminal activity over the interests of victims, survivors, and witnesses.

Orange County Taxpayers Association opposes Santa Ana’s current housing law because it will reduce property values and will cost the city millions of dollars to implement. Santa Ana residents already pay one of the highest sales tax rates in the county, the highest water rates, and still have deficient public services.

Santa Ana residents need an opportunity to vote for the best housing policies for the city, but city leaders are ignoring us. If we get enough signatures by Nov 19, Santa Ana voters will have an opportunity to decide what’s right for our community at the next election.

City leaders just forced through a new housing policy that will cost millions, taking funding from police patrols, fire safety, and youth programs. Santa Ana Police Officers Association stated, “maintaining funding for public safety and education is imperative for the youth in our community and their future.
